Sustainability

The planet is our first home. We have a duty to care for it.

“In simplest terms, sustainability is about our children and our grandchildren, and the world we will leave them.”

— UCLA Sustainability Committee’s definition of Sustainability

Why sustainability matters

  • Protects the planet

Decelerates damage to the earth and conserves its natural resources. Together, we can fight animal extinction, inclement weather and natural disasters, and more.

  • Improves our health

Boosts the quality of our air, water, and food, which ultimately benefits our overall health and helps us combat disease.

  • Supports the economy

Increases productivity, conserves fuel, and reduces the costs of healthcare, water, energy, gas, and other resources,

  • Creates a better future

The action we take today — to preserve biodiversity while encouraging social and economic advancement — will help save the generations of tomorrow.

How we power sustainability

Centering justice

We believe fighting environmental racism and its devastating impacts on the BIPOC community is critical to saving the planet. Onvesso strives to:

  • Engage Black and Indigenous organizations and leaders who have long focused their work on environmental and climate justice.

  • Hold corporations and representatives accountable for their roles in the pollution and poisoning of Black neighborhoods, as well as the ruination of Indigenous land.

  • Further our personal education and knowledge of environmental racism and its impacts.

  • Understand that not everyone has access to the resources and time to transform their personal habits; rather than condemn them, support their communities and encourage their access to environmental protection.

  • Work to minimize the potential of the renewable energy transition to exacerbate existing inequities by advocating for access to clean energy jobs and relevant training for all.

Reducing our carbon footprint

To reduce its carbon footprint, Onvesso operates as an 100% remote organization. As a completely remote company, Onvesso can cut the environmental impact that physical offices and a commuting workforce have.

However, we know that there is more we can do to reduce our environmental impact beyond operating remotely. Upon hire, all Onvesso employees receive a digital packet on how to save energy and live sustainably while working from home.

Our blog, social media channels, podcast, and content series all regularly share tips, tricks, and education on how people across the world can reduce their carbon footprint in their day-to-day lives as well.

Building green services

Onvesso has made sustainability a core pillar of its service approach, meaning that all of our services and offerings consider and integrate solutions that are environmentally and socially sound.

We partner with vendors, suppliers, influencers, and organizations that show a true commitment to promoting sustainability and environmentalism in our world.

We’ve also made it simpler to shop eco-friendly and green certified products with our ethical product aggregator, which pulls together a database of environmentally conscious products and sellers that our community can support and use in their home-based wellness journey.

Our solutions are not limited to the interiors of a home. We also consider outdoor areas such as backyards and gardens. With this, we ensure any outdoor solutions we offer are environmentally friendly.

Supporting the community

Onvesso encourages its employees to serve the community by volunteering for projects and non-profits with a sustainable focus. We often hosts environmental and sustainability-focused competitions and challenges that leverage rewards, perks, discounts, and other offerings to incentivize our employees and the world to participate.

We believe education has the power to arm our communities with the information and guidance they need to play a part in protecting the earth. We provide education surrounding environmentalism, social justice, and sustainability broadly via our blog, podcast, Home Talk series, and more.

Onvesso also hosts annual fundraisers on behalf of environmental and health-focused charities and foundations to contribute to research and advocacy.
